The purpose of this course is to gain an understanding of the cultural, political, and economic developments in European history from 1450 to the present that played a fundamental role in shaping the world in which we live.

Students will develop an understanding of some of the principal themes in modern European history, an ability to analyze historical evidence, and an ability to express historical understanding in writing.
