FIRST - You must sign out a textbook (The Western
Heritage, Since 1300 - Kagan, a CD (Western Civilization Documents) and a photocopied packet from the main office. Please
check the office hours before going to school to collect these items.
SECOND - You should copy the CD to your computer's
hard drive or to another CD. I would put the original CD away for safe keeping. It will be collected from you on the first
day of class.
THIRD - Read p. xxxiii to p. lxxvii in the reading packet. You must take notes on this section. You
will need these notes in order to study for the first test of the year. Your notes will not be collected, but it is required
that you take notes. Notes are an essential element of this AP class! You may write in this packet if you wish, but highlighting
and making notations in the packet is not a substitute for taking notes.
FOURTH - You are REQUIRED to answer questions
1-7 on p. lxxvii of your packet. Anwers must be in complete paragraphs. Be sure to answer each part of every question. Responses
should be type-written in 12 pt type DOUBLE SPACED with 1 inch margins. This assignment will be collected and graded. YOU
MUST HAVE IT WITH YOU ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS (FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th) OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THE ASSIGNMENT!
FIFTH
- Read and take notes on Chapter 9 in your textbook (pp. 291-313). Again, you will need these notes when studying for the
first test.

SEPTEMBER 8th) OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THE ASSIGNMENT!
SEVENTH - On the Documents CD Read and answer the following
questions. Responses should be type written, 12 pt. DOUBLE SPACED and in complete sentences and paragraphs. You
may print out the documentsw/questions if you wish, but be sure to type your responses.
